In Memory of Ellen Dailey

Ellen, as most of those in the B division
know, was a consistent presence for Red Scare on the
field for 5 years. She originally joined in
2001, when one of their former coaches convinced her to come
and keep score for their games. Although that coach and
several to follow, came and went, Ellen remained with
Red Scare and was a huge part of the team.
The reasons that drew this intelligent,
older, straight woman with a busy schedule divided between
family commitments and her work on the Board of Directors of
the Boston Health Care for the Homeless group to Red Scare team
were not initially clear. But, over time, it became clear
that she gained much from being part of our community,
hopefully nearly as much as we gained from having her as
part of ours. She was a huge advocate for both the homeless
and the elderly and was incredibly positive towards the gay
and lesbian community.
Ellen did a tremendous job for us over
the years and really had a tremendous sense of each member
of our team, both as players and as people. She believed in
us and always thought that we could stage a two-out rally
and win the game on any particular day. I know that all of
us miss her a lot.
